Altec Lansing IMT320 inMotion Compact iPod Speaker System

Designed primarily for iPods and iPhones, the Altec Lansing IMT320 inMotion Compact iPod Speaker System features a centrally located docking station for the Apple devices. It is compatible with the iPhone 4 and 3GS as well as with most iPod models, including the latest. This compatibility is also reflected with such features as an automatic pausing of the music whenever a call is received, charging of the iPhone or iPod while docked, and the lack of feedback or GSM buzz common with other speakers. Owing to these features, the IMT320 inMotion is given a “Works with iPhone” certification.

The speaker system is a compact speaker measuring 9.8″ W x 2″ D x 5″ H, which is just about the same size as a hardback, making it extremely portable. It is actually the smallest among the inMotion line of portable speakers and thus will not take up too much space in your bag or backpack. It features a leatherette protective cover that, when folded open, doubles as a stand. You can choose between a black or green cover. The speaker’s casing itself, however, is available only in black.

Dual drivers and front-firing ports work together to produce fine sounds, delivering detailed high ends, smooth mid-range, and adequate bass. At its size, you cannot expect exceptional quality, but it does generate very loud sounds without distortion.

If you have audio devices other than an iPod or iPhone, the Altec Lansing IMT320 inMotion Compact iPod Speaker System has a standard 3.5 mm jack for connecting them. You can link you laptop, DVD player, or MP3 player with the speaker to listen to music files stored in such devices.

The speaker is powered either by plugging it into a standard electric outlet, or by four size AA batteries. When opting for the latter, you can expect up to 24 hours of playback on medium volume level.
