X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers

X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers

Size doesn’t matter. That is certainly true with the X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers. The Max II consists of two individual speakers that are shaped like an egg horizontally sliced in half while standing on its long end. When the two are joined together to complete the egg, as they are when packed for transport, they have a combined length of 4 inches and a 2.5-inch waist. Rather surprisingly, in spite of this size, the capsule speakers deliver excellent sound quality.

Most ultra-compact speakers have impaired audio quality because of their size. Not so with the Max II. Neither distortions nor hisses are audible from the speakers. Also, there is no trace of the tinny quality that often accompanies small speakers. For its size, bass is sufficiently deep thanks to its Bass Expansion System (BXS), an accordion-like mechanism that is compressed when the unit is packed but expands with a twist of the top, and which mimics the sound of a subwoofer.

A strong magnet holds the two half-egg-like speakers together while in transport. When you are ready to listen to your music, simply pull them apart and connect them to your MP3 player or any other audio source.

The drivers of the capsule speakers are open and angled. This results in a directional audio enhancement, and also contributes to a deeper bass. At the base of each speaker are a power switch, a mini USB port, an aux in jack, and an indicator light. With the individual power switches, you can opt to power up only one or both of the speakers. The mini USB port is for charging, while the aux in is a 3.5 mm jack which connects to the audio source. The indicator light comes alive with blue when the speakers are switched on, and with red while charging. A two-hour charge can provide you with enough power to last for 12 hours.

As an option, you can also purchase the Buddy Jack, an accessory that allows you to connect as many X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers as you want in a long daisy chain playing music from a single source.
